Host Anthony Totera interviews Ruben Flores, OSA Region 2 and Ontario U14 Boys Coach, on his transition from playing professionally in Mexico to coaching in Canada, the focus on winning versus long-term player development and the importance of his U14 Boys Team experiencing the culture of soccer in countries like Brazil. Ruben started as a volunteer in Erin Mills and worked with teams in Brampton, Woodbridge and Burlington. He holds a Canadian National "A" Licence, USSF National "A" Licence, Brazilian National "A" Licence and Mexican National "A" Licence. Ruben has an extensive professional playing background in Mexico as well as experience in Italy, Canada and the USA. He played for 14 years professionally and was most recently the Technical Director for the Burlington Youth Soccer Club. Now invited to be part of the coaching staff for the OSA as a provincial coach and Head Coach of the Region 2 program, Ruben is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, English, French and some German which helps him understand and develop players coming from different backgrounds. Passionate about The Beautiful Game, he is a true believer of developing FUTBOL players at the younger age levels.
