And this video is a story about two career transitions -- one is mine, and the other might be yours. I had been promoted into a very big job in sales management. I worked hard to get there -- from electrical engineering and technical sales to sales management. I was ecstatic. But after a year, I couldn't stand the work. I was bored and restless. I was burned out. And the more I didn't like the work, it seemed the more the money and the status came rolling in. I was trapped -- I felt like I couldn't walk away it. Also happens to executives around age 40 they get very successful, and then they want to try something else. They get restless. But they've got so much invested in their current success that there's no time to stop and switch gears. And we're not alone. USA Today says that 50% of us are unhappy at work. HALF of us want to change our jobs or change our careers. So that was my situation -- right here -- 20 years ago. I looked happy on the surface, but I was miserable on the inside. I did not want to do another 30 years of sales management. Finally got so frustrated I changed careers.
