Leadership Coaching: How To Have A Successful Transition In Evolving Your Business

Work Culture Trends And The Financial Crisis

Corporate downsizing and restructuring are common phenomena during financial crisis. Then again, are corporate trends really different and unusual during the recession? Dr. Karen Ho, a University of Minesotta author and anthropology assistant professor shares her experience when she was working in Wall Street. According to her, it was fascinating that company downsizing and restructuring are actually common even when the economy was booming back in 1996. Whenever a company announced a major layoff, its stock rallied. She found that mergers, downsizing, break ups and restructuring were not only an ideological commitment of boosting shareholder value, but an inherent aspect of Wall Street's work culture. Work culture on Wall Street is how it feels and how people are in New York's financial district.

Transition Coaching

People should constantly move in lock step with the market. Businesses have to adjust and evolve- or die. A company that becomes stagnant and inefficient becomes a big lumbering brick and eventually terminates. An organization needs to constantly change and restructure to thrive and survive.

Leadership Coaching: How To Have A Successful Transition In Evolving Your Business

Is It Time To Take Your Business To The Next Level?

How about your organization? Assess your current situation or stage of evolution. The principle of the 4th Turning has come into play for hundreds of years depicting the cycle of an organization: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Is it time to take your business to the next level? Will changed leadership work better in improving your organization? The first step is to assess the stage of evolution your organization is currently at. It begins with "you" as a leader. The equation goes:

Your evolution + Organizational Culture evolution = Business Evolution

Areas Of Leadership Coaching

Intuitive, wise and insightful leadership coaching can guide you through in the process of evolving your business. Conditions are changing, and organizations need to go with the flow. Otherwise, if a business does not endeavor to evolve and adjust, it will inevitably follow the lot of failed organizations in history. What are some aspects covered by leadership coaching to help evolve your business?

Personalized assessment of your company, group and organizational culture Succession and leadership planning to guide your company and executive leadership through a successful transition Strategic planning by mediating power positions and individual empowerment to engage all members in the planning process Executive coaching that helps develop a game plan and leadership skills to achieve goals and objectives Team engagement and organizational coaching to develop honest and engaging dialog between teams and departments.

The evolution of your business starts with the clarity of your core values. Once you have established the precepts you want to stand for, you can be comfortable, confident and clear about your evolution. Gain a solid grasp and new confidence of your purpose to pave the way towards change.

Get Coaching Clients - Uncover the Best Keywords For Your Coaching Business

When I started on the Internet I had no idea how important keyword research was. I had no idea that I needed to have keywords in my article and blog post titles. I didn't realize that my articles and blog posts should be keyword rich. I had no idea what a title tag was much less how importnant it was to include keywords in my title tags.

Keywords are probably the most important single aspect of internet marketing yet they seem like the sort of thing that some techno geek should be concerned with not a coach. Start working on getting familiar with your best keywords and Google's Keyword Research Tool so you can out smart your competition.

Transition Coaching

Keyword research should be the first thing that you do when you are starting your internet business. Your keywords should be considered when choosing a domain name, business name, and almost every other aspect of your internet business.

Get Coaching Clients - Uncover the Best Keywords For Your Coaching Business

Become a Spy
Take a look at the keyword Meta tags your competitors are using. I know that sound technical and difficult but it is very easy to do. Just go to your competitor's site and right click, scroll down until you see "view source" and when you click that it will reveal the "underside" of your competitor's website. Here you can see the details and at the top of the page you will find the Meta keyword tags.

There is a list of every keyword your competitor is using right on their webpage for you to see. It is a little sneaky but it is a common form of research if you are savvy to its existence. Now you are aware so use the tool to find the best keywords.

You should be able to gather a sizable keyword list by combining these brainstorming and research methods. Now that you have a list the next step is to determine how many people are searching for these keywords and phrases then narrow your list to the most sought after keywords that will bring the most traffic to your site.

Include keywords that are broad and narrow to do your research. For example, if you were researching coaching you could use a broad keyword such as life coaching or business coaching. A narrower keyword would be life coaching for women or life transition coaching.

The goal is to choose a keyword that is popular but not so widely searched that you will find too many people who do not fit your specific target coaching niche.

Finding the right keywords is an art and you will have to test different keywords to determine how effective each one is for your particular product, service and business. Keywords research is also an ongoing proposition because internet marketing is dynamic and things are constantly changing.

Business Leadership Coaching for Management Transitions

Merging Business Leadership Coaching and Emotional Intelligence: Tom was a natural at sales. He ranked high on several emotional intelligence skills. He was charismatic, enthusiastic and always the top performing sales professional in his team. He got along well with his peers and his manager. When his boss moved on to a new position Tom was promoted to manager of his sales team.

After nine months, Tom's division was performing below average. Tom attributed the sudden drop in productivity to his predecessor. His sales team, however, attributed the sudden drop to his lack of leadership. They claimed he played favorites and was unpredictable. Some days he was helpful and supportive and other days he was aloof and punitive. The HR department was suddenly suggesting different types of sensitivity trainings to institute emotional intelligence in the work place. Conflicts between Tom and employees led to additional turn-over. Tom saw this as a good thing, "you're either part of the solution or part of the problem," he would say.

Transition Coaching

Hiring new staff did little to solve the problem. Eventually his superiors began investigating the problems in his department. How could such a natural sales professional make such a horrible manager?

Business Leadership Coaching for Management Transitions

Management requires a combination of leadership and emotional intelligence skills. Making the change from a skilled professional such as, an engineer, or sales person to management often occurs without addressing this point. Rather than a focusing on themselves the manager has to consider how others think and feel. without training and mentoring in this area, new managers are left without the requisite emotional intelligence skills.

The New Manager

The problem is the same in every field, engineering, construction and scientific laboratories. Just as an athlete who was an all-star player isn't necessarily qualified to be great at sports coaching. Some individuals stumble transitioning into management positions while others are natural leaders and adjust well to the new role. Others take time and cost their organization far more in their mistakes than the cost of training them in leadership, social intelligence and emotional awareness. High staff turn over and poor production are red flags indicating a manager has not made the transition.

Managers and leaders in these positions are typically struggling personally. They feel the pressure and may become overwhelmed by it. This only makes the problem worse as they try harder, doing more of what caused the problems in the first place. A manager may appear aggressive or controlling when they are in reality fearful or insecure. They may appear confident one minute and defensive the next. They may appear sensitive and attentive to the board of directors while they intimidate subordinates.

The Larger Challenge

Once those in a position of authority to the manager or leader, learn about the problem, it has, in most cases, already done significant damage to the organization. Simply firing the manager is not always the easy answer.

What can be done about it?

By the time leaders notice there is a problem and begin investigating, in most cases, it has already grown to unmanageable proportions. For example, one board of directors, overseeing the administrator of a health care facility currently face law suits for a hostile work place. The administrator they hired, achieved many of the initially agreed upon goals. They board, however, was unable to anticipate the problems he would cause. The organization as a whole would have benefited from executive coaching or leadership training two years earlier. Now they face legal fees and the cost of hiring outside consultants to fix the resulting problems.

It is best when upper levels of leadership, carefully select and cultivate their managers, staying tuned in to their progress during a transition. Proactive organizations begin training their new managers early to prevent the ripple effect of unskilled managers "flying by the seat of their pants." Some organizations have a business leadership coaching program inside the organization while others prefer to hire private contractors for a more objective support.

Just as the all-star athlete may not make a good sports coach. The litmus test of a good leader is the willingness of subordinates to follow them. If a leader is struggling, the best way to impact the bottom line is to take action and provide the leader with opportunities to develop requisite emotional intelligence skills. Executive leadership coaching, professional trainings, workshops and seminars help accomplished employees to effectively transition into supervisory and managerial positions.

How to Transition From Your JOB to Having Your Own Life Coaching Business and a Better Income

Most of us want to have our own business that allows us the freedom to work where we want, when we want, and with whom we want. However, many of us have no idea as to how to make that happen. With consistent marketing, and especially with a little investment of money, in time, you can find enough the clients to make a great paycheck, and a great career. I'm about to give you a simple, step by step way to transition from your job to having your own life coaching business, all while raising your financial income.

I've officially been a life coach for about 2 years, and I can honestly say, it is the most fulfilling career I could have imagined. I also know that each person has something wonderful and unique to offer this field. Imagine really helping people find wonderful, new truths, while being fully sustained by this!

Transition Coaching

Step 1: Learn how to be a Life Coach. A life coach certification program helps you not only look great in the eyes of your clients, but enhances your self-esteem, and your skills! You can even post your life coaching certificate on your website or office wall, or in the background of any videos you create.

How to Transition From Your JOB to Having Your Own Life Coaching Business and a Better Income

Step 2: Decide how many people you'd ideally like to coach each week if you were a full-time coach. Determine how much you'd like to charge per person in order to have your ideal salary. For instance, maybe you'd like to coach 10 people each week, at 5 per session. That makes your (gross) monthly income about 00. Make your monthly income higher than you need, so that if people drop out or cancel, you will not be up a creek without a paddle.

Step 3: Work your regular full-time job, and begin marketing yourself for the amount of hours each week that you can spare.

Step 4: As soon as possible, take on 2 clients which you will see regularly. Set their sessions at between 30 and 60 minutes each (45 minutes is a great time frame). Reduce your marketing hours by those 2 hours per week, so you don't overwork yourself. You can expect to spend a lot of time marketing yourself especially if you are on a limited budget. You can write articles, join groups, give speeches, network, and even buy advertising. If you can handle more hours of marketing on an ongoing basis, then raise the amount of hours per week.

Step 5: Put the potential clients you get, beyond the 2 you coach regularly, on a waiting list, so you don't overload yourself. (Once again, use your discretion, to determine how much you can handle, ongoing.)

Step 6: Hold a free tele-seminar (this counts as part or your marketing hours), and invite everyone you can think of, all your friends on Facebook, and all the contacts you've made while marketing yourself.

Step 7: Recall the amount of people you want to coach per week if you were a full-time coach. For purposes of simplicity, I'll just assume it's 10. Give them a speech about valuable tip related to how to enhance their lives, and then tell them about a special 6-month coaching package you have, and what it will help them do. Offer the attendees of your seminar a discount or additional awesome freebie, and tell them you are only accepting the first 10 people.

Step 8: If you don't receive 10 applicants, put the applicants who applied on the waiting list and try again. Once you've received 10 people ready to coach with you and all the people came to you and signed up WITHIN one month, it may be time to sit down and decide if perhaps you can generate the kind of income regularly you desire. If you decide it's a wise choice, schedule all 10 clients to start after 30 days from that date, and you can now have the next 30 days to wrap up your affairs and work and begin your exciting new life, leaving that job behind!

Important: Yes, having your own business can be riskier than having a job. The market can be unpredictable. However, you can also make way more money from having your own business, have more flexibility, a greater sense of accomplishment, and truly enjoy having a business. Plus, the stability you've come to expect from jobs is becoming rarer and rarer. It's great to have a Life Coaching Certification as a backup plan, if not your main endeavor!

This is the most fulfilling career I could have imagined, and I know you have something wonderful and original to offer the field. I hope you explore it and see what it has to offer you!

Sincerely,
Lauren Marie Owen
