How to Improve Your Volleys and Net Play

How to Improve Your Volleys and Net Play Tube. Duration : 0.95 Mins.

Tom Allsopp of tpatennis.net demonstrates how to improve your transition and net game. There are numerous drills and warm-ups you can do to improve your forecourt game and help you to develop a better transition game. The first warm-up exercise I demonstrate helps you to feel comfortable taking the ball early and hitting shots from inside the baseline - a place you will need to hit shots from if you want to get to the net and put pressure on your opponent. The second exercise I demonstrate is vital to becoming a great net player. Most players, especially club players, practice stood too close to the net. By standing close to the net you only get to hit high volleys, making it unrealistic to the kind of volleys you actually hit in a match. Try practicing behind or around the service line. This gives you an opportunity to practice low volleys and half volleys, extremely important shots to work on if you are to be successful at transitioning from the baseline to the net.
